A Bunch more Florida pictures

On our first full day in Clearwater Beach we walked to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which is always a fun place to go. Sea turtles are their version of St. Paul's Peanuts characters, apparently, so we took the obligatory picture.

It was a long, hot walk to the aquarium, so by the time we got back everybody needed a rest.

Especially Grandpa. Once the chair is reclined, it's lights out!

At least the kids weren't mean enough to drop anything in. I think.

The next day we went to Busch Gardens. Koleman loves eagles, so here's a bald eagle.

We saw a goofy show about a dragon and his birthday.

Eli and Annie were paying very close attention to the plot of the dragon show.

All the kids love tigers, so here's a picture of tigers.

Eli and Milena got to go on a ride, and I showed off my poor action photography qualities.

Koleman got to ride something as well.

Kelson just got grumpy and got to do the "Cry in my Stroller" ride.

Hopefully I understood the intended meaning of the sign.

Eli was our navigator, which probably explained a lot.

Ice cream break!

Kelson loves zebras. Zebra! Zebra! Zebra!

Random animal poop.

And, of course, they were tired on the way home. On pictures they sure seem to nap more than they do in real life!

We still had time that day for swimming. Even though he never really went in the water on this day, Kelson was totally prepared.

Annie is kind enough to be Milena's motor.

Koleman really improved his swimming on this trip. We went to the pool at least once every day we were in Florida, so he had lots of time to practice.

On to Florida!

Grandpa and Koleman are excited to be in the air. Koleman's job on the flight was to keep Grandpa awake, and he was successful. By the end of the flight Koleman was friends with the girl next to him. They were playing games and telling jokes.

Mommy was in charge of Kelson and Milena, who did a pretty good job of playing with each other during the flights. They had their moments of frustration, but on the whole they did really well. Michelle did a fine job, too.

Eli got to sit next to Grandma, so he was happy. Apparently I had no responsibilities on this flight. Yippee for me!

We got to the Tampa airport, found Annie at her baggage claim, got the rental cars and made it to our hotel at Clearwater Beach. After supper there was time for some swimming, and then off to bed. Milena and Kelson were very excited to be sharing a bed (Walter was there too, of course), and it took them a while to get to sleep.

But they did fall asleep eventually! These two tended to be right next to each other.

The big boys got tired out, too. We survived our first travel day!

And it begins...

I've got about 400 pictures to go through from our little trip to Florida, and I'll probably dribble them out onto this site a few at a time. Here the kids are looking for our airplane, excited to start the trip.

Just some pictures

Milena is gleefully eating an ice cream cone. Weeee!

Koleman shows how big brothers are good examples to their younger siblings.

Kelson really enjoyed his cone.

Our international friendship student Yukari came over to visit. She was attempting to get a nice photo of her and the kids. The kids didn't make it easy.

Eli figures closer is better.

A Visit From Sophia

This weekend we got a visit from Sophia, Eli's "belly sister", along with her mom and dad. Sophia is Eli's biological half-sister, who was adopted and now lives with her family in New Hope. She loved our tire swing.

Milena swings, casually.

Sophia's mom, along with a bunch of short people.

They are all saying "cheese", but Sophia didn't like the sound of the lawnmower down the block.

Is there any doubt that these two are related? They even cry in exactly the same way. Sophia got upset by something, and started to cry, and Michelle and I both had to laugh, because we'd seen the exact same way of crying from Eli hundreds of times.

And this picture is just plain funny.

Hey! My sandal!

Koleman was very nice to Sophia, and she really had fun spinning on the tire swing with him.

The Many Faces of Koleman
