Good help isn't always so hard to find

We had Tanya and Chris over this weekend to eat food, play Wii and go to a theatrical performance. Before they got here yesterday we needed to start preparing food. It's nice to utilize child labor.

The dogs apparently feel that there's a good chance that he'll drop something.

The popovers resulting from his work were fantastic.

Dogs are just kids with more hair

Everybody's a critic.

If you drop most kinds of food on the floor, the dogs will snatch it up as quick as possible. But a mushroom?

Apparently it's not good enough for Stevie.

The piece of chicken that fell on the floor didn't last 2 seconds, yet neither dog would eat the mushroom.

I wonder what Koleman will complain about in the soup for supper tonight...

First Blog Post from my New Computer

It's my first blog post with my new computer. Whoopee. Here are Eli and Koleman playing some game they are making up, while Milena watches with interest.

What new computer? This one.

Why a new computer? Well, let's just say that if your computer is in this condition, it's not a good sign:

Baker Parkaching

This past weekend we stayed at my parents' house. On Saturday we went to Baker Park to check out a bunch of caches they have there. Koleman gets confused at times, though. He thought this toad was a cache.

Kelson corrected him and told him to put the toad back on the ground. Kelson is a smart boy.

If you smack a milkweed pod with a stick, it snows.

Milena found her first ever cache. She was very proud.

After a mile or so of walking we took a break. Nothing better than big rocks to play on.

Grandpa Gary found his first cache too. Or so he thought. It was actually just a piece of plastic. But he was still proud.

Koleman found the real cache at that spot.

After a bit our group split. Milena, Michelle and I continued to cache, and the rest retreated to the comfort of home. The girls and I found a few more caches on our own, including a Cache Cabin.

The three of us ended up walking about 7 miles. That gets pretty tough for a little girl, so at one point she took my hat and hitched a lift.

Halloween!

Yes, it's the obligatory Halloween post! It's required by Blogger law!

Anyway, we did things a bit differently this year, and went to my parents' house to Trick or Treat. We wanted to see if Plymouth offered a higher class of candy.

It didn't.

Regardless, we still had fun! Grandpa is ready to take Frankenstein, a Gustie Graduate, a Clown and a Pirate out to Trick or Treat.

Grandpa safely leads the children down the middle of the street.

Koleman suffering from 10 year old angst. "Am I too old to Trick or Treat? I like candy, but I don't want to embarrass myself." Oh, the tragedy.
