Lego Open House

On Saturday we had an open house for three First Lego League teams (two in St. Peter and one in Mankato). The open house was a great success, especially for my team, since they have never felt the pressure of actual competition. Lots was learned. Here is Koleman watching the robot go and retrieve oil barrels from an oil platform.

Now it's time to change the program.

The real tournament is on Saturday, and we're getting very excited! Since people have claimed that I don't tell people anything, I am officially announcing that the tournament will be held at the Benjamin E Mays Magnet school in St. Paul (Yahoo! Yellow pages map). From 9:30 till 5:00. In the gym. Open to the public.

We have Very Important Plans on Saturday morning. However, I'll try to swing by the tourney after 2:00 or so. If Emma's interested, I'll bring her too.

It turns out that Koleman and I will be gone from 10:30 to 12:30, because we need to attend a funeral. So 2:00 works well. I think Koleman is going to be having his turn to run the robot at about 2:40, during the Head to Head competition (there can only be one).

How could Emma not be interested? It's sexist to assume that she wouldn't like robots just because she's a girl. As a matter of fact, 4 of the 7 kids on our team are girls. Shame on you.
