Lego Boating - The Tale of Koleman

Sit back and pay attention
to a tale that's full of woe,
About a boy named Koleman
    whose boat just wouldn't go.

Yeah, right.

Anyway, at Legoland they have a fun little boat ride. Koleman was in the first boat, Kelson and I were second, Michelle and Eli were third, and Grandma Karen and Milena were the rear guard. The boats had a foot pedal for "acceleration" and a steering wheel.

Here you can see Koleman safely in front of everybody.

And here are the two trailing boats.

And this is me, looking handsome.

It didn't take long for Koleman to start having problems at the turns. I'm not exactly sure what his goal was at this point, but being rammed by Kelson probably wasn't it.

As you can see, Kelson passed Koleman and has taken the lead. Koleman is still in second place, though, and facing the correct direction. Everything should be fine for him from here on out.

Uh oh. He's been passed by Michelle and Eli, he's facing the wrong way, and getting rammed by Milena and Grandma. At least he's still smiling.

Oh alas! How sad it is,
    a sailer lost at sea.
But the tale gets even sadder yet
as Grandma pushes her own grandson's boat the wrong way!

Kelson and I have made two more turns by this point, but Koleman is still at that same place. However, he now seems to be pointing the right direction.

Ah, look, he made it! He's now behind complete strangers (and smashing into them, too!), but at least he made it. For a while we were worried that Michelle would have to dive in to save him.

And so the pirate Koleman
    sailed his ship so grand,
Conquered evils in the sea
    and returned to Legoland.
